Grinder sizes are strictly proportional to the size of the disc used. Standard sizes are 115 mm, 125 mm, and 230 mm.

Thanks to their great versatility, a grinder can cut a wide variety of materials, such as tiles or metal. It’s important to use the right blade, and this will depend on the material you’re cutting. Like all tools, grinders have their pros and cons:

• Pros: They are more affordable than other tools for cutting tiles. Additionally, their lightweight and versatile design with a high cutting speed makes it an efficient and practical tool.
• Cons: Not everyone knows how to properly use a grinder, which can make it dangerous if not handled correctly. In inexperienced hands, the cut quality can be poor, the tool can generate a lot of dust and noise, and in extreme cases can result in serious injuries.

What should we consider when choosing a grinder?

As with other electric cutters, grinders typically come in different sizes, power ratings, and blade diameters. This means we can distinguish two main groups: large volume grinders and mini grinders.

Mini grinders

These are the most recommended for internal tile installation and cutting and machining of other thin-walled materials. They typically have a diameter of 115 mm to 125 mm.

Large volume grinders

Large volume grinders are much larger and heavier than the previous models, typically with a diameter of 230 mm, but we can also find them in 180 mm. They are much more robust and are primarily used for cutting and grinding construction materials, including metals.

Selecting a grinder according to the type of work

If you want a grinder for occasional or moderate-frequency work on small surfaces, a mini grinder is usually the best solution, such as the RUBI Angle Tech.

However, if we need to do very frequent and intensive work on large, thick materials, the best option will be a large volume grinder.
